White #Rheingau #wine from Germany: 2002 : http://tinyurl.com/3qjhotd

Wine name: Abtei St. Hildegard. Producer: Abtei St Hildegard. Vintage: 2002. Purchased from rüdesheim. Appearance deep-ish straw yellow, thin and receding on the glass with quite soft, grassy, fruity aromatics. The attack is average intensity but with good acid and notes of lemon oil. Evolution: Traditional (cloudy, home-made) lemonade, lemon oil, crystal glass with a finish which is citrus in the nose and on the swallow, with a long lingering finish. Sweetness: 0.5. Acidity: 4. Tannin: 0 with a texture which is rough and slightly thick and the length is excellent. As for balance, it's nicely balanced, if a little unusual. it's very acidic but the huge amount of lemon fruit balances it. The wine has a closure and is 12% abv. Overall, this wine is: Very nice, doesn't taste anything like its 12 years of age. Juicy, fresh, lemony with very good structure. This is a particularly good Riesling!. My score (which is NOT the same as Robert Parker's!) is 90 points.
