| Wine name: Cabernet Franc. Producer: Ironstone Vineyards, Murphys, California. Vintage: 2002. Purchased from village wines, bexley. Appearance very browny deep red with fruity blackcurrants aromatics. The attack is quite sharp blackcurrant juice. Evolution: Blackcurrant skins. Quite pure and fruity with a finish which is custard in nose and on swallow. Sweetness: 0. Acidity: 4.5. Tannin: 1 with a texture which is watery and the length is excellent. As for balance, it's ok, perhaps a little over-acidic. The wine has a synthetic closure and is 13.5% abv. Overall, this wine is: Nice but a little past its best. Worth to buy again though, and went well with shepherd's pie. My score (which is NOT the same as Robert Parker's!) is 80 points. |
